Not just another Friday

Having fridays off from classes in Burlington is one thing, but having them off in Dublin is just ten times better! After sleeping in and relaxing a small group of us decided to go to The Science Gallery at Trinity College. There were some really cool exhibits that got us all laughing at times and very confused at others.

We then headed down Grafton Street, grabbed some food at Burritos and Blues, saw The Gotham Cafe, and even stumbled upon mutefish. They are a modern Irish band that mixes old style authentic Irish music with todays influences. The streetband performers were mentioned in the music class at school this week and it was really cool to be able to catch a show from them today.

We then went into the Stephens Green Shopping center.

Such a gorgeous little mall, complete with tower restaurants, a Carrolls and of course TK Maxx! As you can tell I had too much fun taking pictures of the girls!

Such a good day, and it didn't rain while we were out! I am looking forward to tomorrow to go camping at Wicklow Mountain with some friends. I hope we will stick to trails heading up, and we don't end up climbing up the side of a mountain like I did in Bray. Yes mom I did, I wasn't overreacting, if anything I downplayed it!

Mom meet Skype, Skype good luck...

Dear Mother,
I thought I would teach you how to use skype again. After clicking the skype icon and logging in, this is what you will see.

At the top left of your screen is a drop down arrow that tells other people whether you are on skype or off skype. All green means you are on, and empty space means you are off. If you are online, people (like me) think you are online, and so they write you messages, which you don't see.

When you want to skype someone, it is very easy, just click their name, then hit video call, and wait for them to answer. You can only video message others when they are online. So next to their name on the left hand side of your screen, they will have a green blob and a check mark!

Above: I cannot video message you, because you are offline.
Below: I can video message tommy because he is online!

When you are not planning to go on skype, make sure you set yourself to offline!

Think you've got it ma? Good i will test you tonight. I will be skyping you 10pm, my time, so 5pm your time!

Have a good day at work!

Feeling right at home

Today I went to Howth and felt just like I was in the Sandwich Marina. Laura, Nicole, Olivia and I took the train as far as it would go to the North on a gorgeous day, to the adorable seaside town. I now understand when people say that Massachusetts and especially the coast is influenced by Ireland.

We ate some lunch at a great little cafe called Jamie's which had some delicious food that was very decently priced, and the portions were pretty large. Then we walked out around the marina/on the coast, on what we couldn't decided was called a pier, a manmade jetty, or just a wall. It was beautiful though and I took way too many photos and put way too many of them on facebook. All in all a great Sunday.

Tomorrow is the first day of classes, but not for me because I am so lucky and didn't get any classes on mondays! Tomorrow I hope to explore the city some more, but who knows.

Disclaimer, especially for my mother: Classes begin this week, so chances are I will not be doing a post every single night, unless you really want to hear how my classes are each day and what I have for homework....I will post if something good happens, or if we doing some fun exploring in my Writing the City course. So mom, if I don't post each night, it is not because I am dead, I just am doing homework or drinking too much beer and can't type...haha just kidding! Don't worry though I won't be dead.

The Day After

Well my feet hurt! But I tell you, my slippers feel like heaven! We finished up orientation today and went on a historic walking tour which was interesting. I didn't pick up a lot but i did get some really nice photos, and it was fun to be silly with the group :)

This evening I went down to the pub with some girls and we all had our first Guiness, half pints though, which were so cute, and so much better. We then decided to take a walk, so we crossed over the Liffey then back again through the end of Temple Bar and The Old city. We think we saw a photo shoot or Drag parade walk by which was savage to see, and then we ended up walking into the Garden of the Church we always take pictures of, so we took some together for a change.

Just a relaxing night and day and I couldn't ask for more. I am glad everyone pretty much knows their way to and from the academic center now too.
